O Doggy Nose

Seeing that people are posting “Newfie Carols” on NewfNet, I decided to try my hand at the challenge.

O Doggy Nose

Based on a true story.

To the tune of “O Holy Night,” scored for tenor and soprano.

Tenor

Oh, doggy nose,
How sweet it’s gently gleaming,
It is the nose of my dear Ernestine.

Long lay the brown girl,
Hogging all the blankets,
‘Til I appeared,
With the hope of 40 winks.

I bend right down,
And get set up to nuzzle,
The muzzle brown,
So sweet in dim morn light…

Soprano

Fortissimo

Bob!
Oh, my God!
That’s not
Her head you’re smooching!

Diminuendo

For Pete’s sake Bob,
Oh, just turn on the light!

Hey dogs, your dad’s half-zonked.

Ohhhhhh, dogs, I’ll let you out.

Soprano and Tenor

Forte

Oh, dogs!
Oh, dogs!
Ohhh-hhhh dogs,
We’ll both get up!
