Seth Snow, keeper of Raspberry Island light, came in the first of the week, and shook hands with his Masonic brethren of their gathering Tuesday.
So what’s the big deal about this? Only that it shows that Keeper Snow was spending the winter on the island. It’s a commonly accepted belief that, “The lights closed down in the winter,” and that was indeed the usual practice, but the Outer Island log book and a handful of press clippings like this show that there were exceptions to the rule.
